Your First Step: Believe In Jesus

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” - Hebrews 11:6

FAITH is your first step in your journey back into relationship with God. Without faith, there’s no next step. But with faith, then all things are possible and God will reward you with His Presence and forgiveness and salvation.

How do you take this step? By confessing your belief in Him. Say this prayer outloud:

Lord, I believe in Your existence. And I believe You came because You love me. I believe You died to save me from my sins. And believe You didn’t stay dead, but You came back to life so that I can also have a new life!

If you prayed that prayer and are convinced it is so, God has began His new life in you. Don’t be afraid to pray it again if you feel you’re struggling with doubt. God knows it can be a challenge to believe, but if you continue, you will see your faith grow as He shows Himself real to you every day. And now you’re ready for your next step.

Second Step: Repent

“The time is fulfilled,” He said, “and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel! - Mark 1:15

“Repentance” is simply a change of mind. What God wants you to do is to change your mind about your own goodness and perfection. Admit to God that you are a sinner and are in need of Him. Turn your back on your own personal ideas of good and bad and embrace how He sees it.

You can say a prayer like this:

Lord, I admit that I am a sinner—who have not thought about pleasing you and only about pleasing myself. I surrender myself to You. I ask You to come into my heart, make You my Lord and turn my back to the world; simply, help me to die to my old life so that I can live my new life as a follower of You.

Imagine yourself walking the way you’ve always walked, and now that you said this prayer, imagine yourself making an 180, u-turn from that direction and now are walking towards God. Don’t worry about messing up. God has forgiven you and you’re no longer chained to what you do. You are now a servant of Christ, walking towards Him. If you fall, just get back up and continue following Him.

Third Step: Join the Church

Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. - Acts 2:41

Baptism is actually the next step. But this step requires someone else to teach you and actually physically help you. So in order for you to do this step, you must come and take part in the Church community.

Baptism is an act of faith and obedience. This step is only needed if you already believe and have repented of your sins. Baptism may require deeper learning so you can understand its significance, how the followers of Jesus did it when He was around, and what you can expect after.

Call or email us so that we can have someone “disciple” or guide you in this next step. This is an exciting step as it publicly shows that you are now a follower of Jesus, expresses God’s redemption from your sins and are now become part of the Church community.
